Pursuant to Article 13 of EU Regulation No. 679/2016 (“GDPR”) and Legislative Decree 196/2003 as amended by Legislative Decree 101/2018.

This privacy policy (hereinafter, the “Privacy Policy”) describes the manner and purpose of the processing of personal data of visitors (hereinafter, “the Users”) to the website www.theworldofsicily.com (hereinafter, “the Site”).

The Privacy Policy is provided only for this Site and not also for other websites owned by third parties, which may be accessed through links within the web pages of the Site and/or in newsletters. Please review the privacy statements of such third party sites in relation to their processing of personal data.

What Personal Data We Collect

The data that may be collected during the use of the website (hereinafter, jointly, the “Data”), belong to the following categories :

B) Personal Data voluntarily provided by the User

The World of Sicily collects some Personal Data that can be voluntarily provided by the Users of the Site (e.g., personal data, contact data and other personal data) through specific forms on the Site (registration to the reserved area of the site, registration to the mailing list/newsletter, etc.) or sent to The World of Sicily by e-mail.

How we collect Data

The World of Sicily collects and processes Data on the Site under the following circumstances better described in the section on purposes:

in case of registration to the Site in order to use its functionalities;

if the User contacts The World of Sicily through the dedicated “CONTACTS” area of the Site;

if the User responds to our marketing campaigns, for example by filling in a response form, or by entering data on the Website.

If You provide Personal Data on behalf of someone else, You must ensure, in advance, that the individuals concerned have read this Privacy Policy.

For what purposes the Data may be used

Managing Site Registration

The Company may process your personal and contact data (first name, last name and e-mail address) to enable you to complete the registration process on the Site and to be able to create your personal account.

Prerequisite for processing: Execution of a contract to which you are a party or execution of pre-contractual measures taken at the request of the User ex art. 6, first parag. letter b) of the GDPR

The use of the Site does not require registration; however, in order to access certain restricted services, you must register and create your personal account.

The provision of the above data is mandatory to enable you to finalize your registration to the Site.

Response to inquiries

The Company may process the User’s Personal and Contact Data, as well as any personal data provided on a voluntary basis within the form in the “CONTACTS” section of the Site, in order to respond to requests for information.

Prerequisite for processing: Execution of a contract to which you are a party or execution of pre-contractual measures taken at your request ex art. 6, first parag. letter b) of the GDPR

The provision of your Personal Data is obligatory since, in default, The World of Sicily will find itself unable to carry out the User’s requests.

Marketing and advertising communications

Subject to your appropriate and specific consent, the Company may process your Personal and Contact Data for marketing and advertising communication purposes aimed at informing you about sales promotional initiatives, carried out through automated contact methods (newsletters, sms, MMS, chat, instant messaging, social networks and other massive messaging tools, push notifications, etc.) and traditional contact methods (e.g., telephone call with operator, traditional mail, etc.), or for market research and statistical surveys.

Subject to your appropriate and specific consent, The World of Sicily may process your Personal and Contact Data for marketing and advertising communication purposes, in order to update you on The World of Sicily’s activities, promotions, discounts and offers, as well as any other promotional initiative or for market research. 

The World of Sicily will also process the aforementioned data to direct the User on promotional initiatives for the sale of the products of Business Partners, which are autonomous data controllers.

The sending of newsletters will take place through automated contact methods (electronic mail).

Prerequisite for processing: Consent ex art. 6, par. 1 lett. a) of the GDPR

Subscription to the newsletter is optional and failure to subscribe to it has no consequences on the User’s use of the Site and on the relationship with The World of Sicily.

The User’s Personal Data will be processed by The World of Sicily to fulfill its obligations.

Prerequisite for processing: Fulfilment of a legal obligation ex art. 6, first parag. lett. c) of the GDPR

The provision of your personal data is compulsory since in default The World of Sicily will find itself unable to fulfill specific legal obligations.

Defense of rights

This purpose includes the possibility for The World of Sicily to process the User’s Personal Data to defend its rights or act or even make claims against the User or third parties.

The provision of your data is compulsory since in default The World of Sicily will find itself unable to defend its rights.

How long the Data are kept

We will retain your Data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or for any other legitimate related purposes. Therefore, if Data is processed for two different purposes, we will retain that Data until the purpose with the longer retention period ends; however, we will no longer process Data for that purpose whose retention period has ended.

We restrict access to your Data only to those who need to use it for relevant purposes.

Your Data that is no longer needed, or for which there is no longer a legal basis for its retention, is either irreversibly anonymized (and thus can be retained) or securely destroyed.

Below are the retention times in relation to the different purposes listed above:

Managing Your registration to the Site: the Data processed for this purpose may be retained by the Company for as long as necessary to manage Your registration to the Site and in any case no longer than 24 months from Your last access to the Site.

Responding to Your Requests for Information: the Data processed for this purpose may be kept by the Company for the time strictly necessary to respond to Your requests for information and thereafter for 24 months.

Marketing to meet Your needs: the Data processed for this purpose may be kept by the Company for 24 months after its collection.

Defense of your rights: the Data processed for this purpose may be kept by the Company for the time strictly necessary to fulfill this purpose.

Legal obligations: the Data processed for this purpose may be kept by the Company for the time strictly necessary for the fulfillment of this purpose.

Persons to whom Personal Data may be disclosed

For the purposes described above, Personal Data will be accessible to workers (employees, professionals) of The World of Sicily duly authorized, as well as to third party service providers necessary for the proper use of the Site and for the provision of related services that perform activities on behalf of the Owner, in their capacity as data processors under Article 28 of the GDPR.

Transfer of data to third countries

In order to carry out some of the processing activities of your Personal Data, The World of Sicily may communicate the same to external entities located in countries that do not belong to the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).

In any case, the transfer will be ensured through the means provided for in Chapter V of the GDPR and therefore in compliance with the rights and guarantees provided for by current legislation. In the event that the transfer takes place not on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission, appropriate safeguards will be adopted, such as the so-called standard contractual clauses in addition to any additional measures.

You can write to The World of Sicily at any time asking who are the subjects to whom Personal Data are disclosed.

Rights of the data subject and how to exercise them

At any time, the User may exercise the following rights:

(i) access to Personal Data;

(ii) rectification and supplementation of Personal Data in our possession that is deemed inaccurate;

(iii) the deletion of Personal Data for which the Company no longer has any legal basis for processing;

(iv) the restriction of the manner in which we process Personal Data if any of the cases provided for in Article 18 of the GDPR apply;

(v) the right to the so-called portability of Personal Data.

In addition, the User may at any time revoke his or her consent, with effect for subsequent processing, to receive messages via e-mail:

by accessing the site’s Privacy Center tools

by clicking on the appropriate option at the bottom of each e-mail received;

by making a request to the address below.

In addition to the aforementioned rights, the User may exercise the right to object for reasons related to his/her particular situation, to the processing of Personal Data concerning him/her by the Company for the pursuit of its legitimate interest and for processing carried out for marketing purposes.
