Marianelli Beach, or Spiaggia “do Iancu” as the locals call it, is one of the five beaches of the Vendicari Reserve. The fine golden sand and the crystal clear sea make it an absolute must. It has been frequented by naturists for several years and is recognized as a gay friendly beach.

Marianelli Beach in Noto

Marianelli Beach is a long stretch of sand between Eloro Beach and Calamosche Beach. It is situated in a truly unique environment, among lemon and almond groves and sand dunes, enriched by a truly unique flora. Of all the beaches in the Vendicari Reserve, it is probably the least crowded and the quietest. The seabed is sandy and shallow, making it ideal for families with children. However, there are no lids or refreshment points, so you need to bring everything you need: umbrellas, deck chairs, food and water. If you have children, it is also important to know that, according to the regulations of the reserve, you cannot bring balls or other toys. Near the beach are the remains of the Stampace Tower, built by the Spanish in the 16th century to protect the area from Saracen attacks.

Marianelli Beach: naturist and gay friendly

Marianelli Beach in Noto has been frequented by naturists for several years and is recognized as a gay friendly beach. Although not officially recognized, it is certainly one of the most important naturist beaches in Sicily. It is, however, one of the beaches listed on the official website of the Sicilian Naturism Association. In autumn, thanks to the particularly mild climate of Sicily, the coast is filled with many tourists from all over Europe. In summer, when the number of visitors increases considerably, naturists are usually concentrated on the left side of the beach, near the mouth of the river Tellaro. In the central part are the so-called “textiles”, that is, those who decide not to give up the costume, while the right part is mainly gay friendly. Of course, everyone is free to choose which part of the beach they prefer, with full respect for others.

How to reach the beach

To reach the beach of Marianelli you have to take the provincial road SP19 that goes from Noto to Pachino until the entrance of the Vendicari Reserve, more precisely called Marianelli. Be careful as it is not well signposted. From here, a dirt road will take you to a parking lot near the Hotel Marianeddi. To be on the safe side, we recommend that you set your navigator to “Marianeddi” as your destination. Once you have parked your car, you can reach the beach by walking for about 800 meters. You can also decide to reach Marianelli Beach directly from Eloro Beach. In fact, if the mouth of the Eloro River allows, you can walk with your feet in the water, crossing the mouth and the very small promontory that separates the two beaches.
