Cala Junco is a splendid beach located in Punta Milazzese, in the southernmost part of the island of Panarea. It is a sort of natural pool, enclosed by basalt rocks that form an amphitheatre. The seabed is mostly made up of stones, making the water perfectly transparent with shades ranging from emerald green to turquoise blue. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Cala Junco, starting from the San Pietro pier. There is no serviced area or source of shade. The beach is made up of large rounded stones, so it is best to have a mat with you. In spite of this, the effort will certainly be rewarded, not only by the fantastic sea but also by a splendid view, especially at sunset, which extends to the islands of Salina and Lipari. Since 1977, the coastal area of Cala Junco has been one of the places owned by FAI in Sicily. Near the beach, you can visit the remains of a Prehistoric Village from the Middle Bronze Age.
