The Civic Museum “L’Italia in Africa” is a small museum in Ragusa, founded in 2009. Inside are exhibits of memorabilia from the period when Italy had four colonies on the African continent (1885 – 1960). It consists of uniforms, period photographs, documents and various objects collected by the collector Mario Nobile. The exhibition is divided into four rooms, each dedicated to one of the former colonies: Eritrea, Somalia, Libya and Ethiopia. The museum does not deal with the period of occupation of these states from a historical perspective. In fact, it does not document all the violence and crimes committed by the Italian occupiers against the local population. It is therefore only an exhibition of historical objects.
