The Castelmola Auditorium is located in Piazza Sant’Antonio, right at the beginning of the city and next to one of its symbols: the ancient Roman arch. It is housed in the ancient church of Sant’Antonio, built between 1400 and 1500. The building still preserves the main characteristics of southern Italian religious architecture, in spite of the many modifications carried out over the years. The façade of the church of Sant’Antonio still shows signs of its expansion. In fact, on the left side, a bell tower typical of the period was built, detached from the main body of the building. In 1953 the church, already deconsecrated, became the parish oratory of the Archiepiscopal Curia of Messina, Lipari and S. Lucia del Mela. The Municipality of Castelmola, after several years of neglect, transformed the church of S. Antonio into the Municipal Auditorium. Today it is used for conferences, events and civil weddings.
