Is golf your passion? Are you planning a trip to Sicily and do not want to miss the opportunity to play this sport? Good news: here is the list of all the golf courses in Sicily. These are courses of the highest level, located near some of the most beautiful destinations in the region. Between rounds, you can admire the beauty of Syracuse, the mosaics of Palermo and the baroque of Ragusa and Noto. You can also climb Mount Etna, visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento or visit Sciacca and the FARM Cultural Park.

    1) Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort&Spa

Picciolo Etna Golf Resort&Spa is the first golf course ever built in Sicily, dating back to 1989 and designed by architect Luigi Rota Caremoli. It is located in Castiglione di Sicilia, directly on the slopes of Mount Etna, in an extraordinary setting of oak forests, hazel groves and vineyards. The course is 18 holes, par 72, carved entirely out of Etna’s lava rock. It stretches a total of 5,870 meters and offers a driving range, putting and pitching green. Facilities include a 13-room guesthouse and a clubhouse carved from an old millstone. The restaurant serves traditional cuisine and typical Mediterranean specialties. At the Golf Club Resort are: a SPA wellness and fitness center, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, calidarium, relaxation area and seven rooms for massages and therapies.

    2) I Monasteri Golf&Resort

Also on the east coast, just outside Siracusa, is another course where you can play golf in Sicily. It is the I Monasteri Golf Club, founded in 2012 and an integral part of the 5-star Borgo di Luce I Monasteri Hotel. The course has 18 holes and is par 71 with five tees per hole. It covers a total area of 6,520 meters in an orange and lemon grove and was designed by the architects David Mezzacane and Vincenzo Mazzacane. Some of the holes are particularly interesting, such as the par-4 6th, which is set in a prickly pear orchard, and holes 2, 3 and 4, where you can admire the characteristic white limestone Hyblean hills. The course’s driving range has up to 40 putting and chipping greens and practice bunkers. There is also a clubhouse where all the necessary equipment can be purchased. It is also possible to rent golf carts, both electric and manual, as well as golf bags.

    3) Verdura Golf Club Sciacca

Another beautiful place to play golf in Sicily is the Verdura Golf Club, located in Sciacca, a beautiful town 40 kilometers from Agrigento. In the resort, the area dedicated to golf practice is 120 hectares, among olive, orange, almond, prickly pear, pomegranate and lemon trees, and a breathtaking sea view. There are two distinct courses designed by internationally renowned California architect Kyle Phillips. The East Course has 18 championship holes, while the West Course has 9 holes with three long par fours and then five par threes. The clubhouse features locker rooms, boutiques, a golf shop and the Tower Bar, where you can enjoy a great drink at the end of your round. The resort covers a total of 230 acres and has everything you need for maximum relaxation. In fact, there is a 4,000,000-square-foot spa, nearly 2 kilometers of private beach and a 60-meter infinity pool.

    4) Golf Club Palermo “Parco Airoldi”

In Palermo it is possible to play golf in a very special environment. In fact, the Palermo Golf Club “Parco Airoldi” is located inside the Parco della Favorita, a 400-hectare public garden built in the early 1800s and now part of the Monte Pellegrino Oriented Nature Reserve. It is therefore possible to relax with a game of golf or to learn the sport from scratch, right in the heart of the city of Palermo. Born as a 3-hole course, the course has expanded over the years to become a 9-hole PAR 32 course, valid for official competitions and HCP management. The club offers its members a covered and illuminated 22-hole driving range for night play. Other facilities include a putting green, pitching green, chipping green, practice bunker and clubhouse.
