Acque Calde Beach (Fumarole Beach)

La Spiaggia delle Acque Calde sull'isola di Vulcano chiamata anche Spiaggia delle Fumarole

Acque Calde Beach (also known as Fumarole Beach) is located on the north-eastern coast of the island of Vulcano, in the Baia di Ponente (Western Bay). This beach gets its names from the unique secondary volcanic phenomena that occurs here. The seabed is characterised by ‘fumaroles’, i.e., emissions of sulphurous gas from the earth’s crust. This makes the water temperature warmer and the bathing experience more relaxing and jacuzzi-like. Acque Calde Beach has fine black sand and a gently sloping seabed. Getting into the water, however, is not always easy due to the presence of numerous rocks on the seabed, so it is best to wear swimming shoes. There are several serviced lidos, but there is also a substantial amount of public beach. During the summer, Vulcano’s Fumarole Beach is particularly crowded because, like the Sabbie Nere Beach, it is easily accessible on foot. It takes about ten minutes to walk from the island’s port.
