Marina Corta Beach

Lipari Cathedral or Cathedral of San Bartolomeo, is the oldest and most important monument within the walls in the Lipari Rock. The church, built in the 11th century by the Benedictine order, has been destroyed and then rebuilt several times throughout history.

The Aeolian Archaeological Museum, founded in 1954 by Luigi Bernabò Brea and Madeleine Cavalier, documents and illustrates human settlements in the Aeolian Archipelago from prehistory to modern times, following a chronological path spread over several buildings.

The Piazza Arti e Mestieri (Arts and Crafts Square) in Lipari is a small area located a short distance from Marina Corta. It is also called Sopra La Terra and today it is very famous for the so-called Lipari Murals.

Villa Santa Lucia of Lipari is an ancient noble residence located in the historical center of the island. Built in the 18th century, it underwent some modifications and transformations at the end of the 19th century.

The Sanctuary of Maria Santissima della Catena in Lipari is located in the northern part of the island. It is also called Chiesa Vecchia to distinguish it from the more recent church of Maria Santissima della Purità.

The kaolin quarries of Lipari are one of the most suggestive places of the whole island. From here you can enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Aeolian Islands and admire nature in all its amazing colors.

The Geophysical Observatory of Lipari is one of the branches of the Catania Section of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). It was founded in 1967 to monitor the seismic phenomena and the activity of the Great Crater of Vulcano.

The Contrada Diana Archaeological Park is an area located to the east of the historical center of Lipari. It was officially established in 1971, but archaeological research began in 1948 by the archaeologists Luigi Bernabò Brea and Madeleine Cavalier.

The small church of San Giuseppe of Lipari is located in the splendid setting of Marina Corta, one of the most beautiful sights of the island.

The Church of Anime del Purgatorio in Lipari is a small church located in the Marina Corta area. It was built in the second half of the 16th century after the attack of the pirate Khayr al-Din Barbarossa in 1544.

Belvedere Quattrocchi is perhaps the most beautiful belvedere on Lipari and one of the most beautiful in the entire Aeolian archipelago.

The beach of Valle Muria is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches of Lipari. It is located in the southwestern part of the island, along the coast between Punta di Ponente and Punta di Levante.

Porticello Beach is located in the northern part of the island of Lipari, a few kilometres away from the town centre. It stretches between the old pumice quarry at Campo Bianco and the black obsidian deposit at Rocche Rosse.

Acquacalda Beach is located on the northern coast of the island of Lipari and takes its name from the nearby seaside village. It is a beach that stretches for over a kilometre and is made up of medium-sized pebbles both on the shore and on the seabed.

White Beach is certainly one of the most famous on Lipari. This beach, and the lido of the same name, both get their name from the colour of the water on the north-eastern coast of the island.

Papesca Beach is located on the east coast of Lipari and is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches on the island. The beach is also known as Spiagge Bianche (White Beaches) because of the particular colour of both the seabed and the sea.

Canneto Beach is located in the north-eastern part of the island, about 10 minutes’ drive from the town of Lipari.
