Eloro Beach is one of the five beaches of the Vendicari Reserve. The very fine sand, the presence of some freshwater marshes and the Mediterranean scrub make this corner of Sicily one of the most beautiful. It is a perfect destination at any time of the year, especially if you are a birdwatcher.
Eloro Beach in Noto
Eloro Beach is the first beach you come across when you enter the northern part of the Vendicari Reserve. It is so called because it is very close to the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Eloro. On the way to the beach you will see several archaeological excavations with explanations. The beach of Eloro consists of very fine sand and is surrounded by some freshwater marshes, which make the landscape even more enchanting. The seabed is shallow and sandy, making it ideal for children. However, it is not equipped, so you need to bring everything you might need: umbrellas, deck chairs, water, food. There are showers you can use. If you have children, it is also important to know that, according to the regulations of the reserve, you cannot bring balls or beach toys. If you are an animal lover and especially a birdwatcher, this beach is ideal for you. Like the whole area of the Vendicari Reserve, it is a destination for many migratory birds. During the summer it is one of the places in Sicily chosen by Caretta caretta turtles to lay their eggs.
How to get to Eloro Beach
Eloro Beach is easily reached from the Syracuse-Gela highway. Once you take the Noto exit, you will reach the guarded parking lot in about 10 minutes. From here, to get to Eloro Beach, you have to walk a very easy path of about 300 meters. One of the easiest beaches to reach in the Vendicari Reserve, it is also one of the most crowded in the summer. If you are looking for something quieter, you can try the nearby Pizzuta Beach, which always has a parking lot, or the other beaches of the Vendicari Reserve.
